Canadian diamond company Dominion Diamond Corporation has announced its production results in the Diavik mine (Diavik) for the fourth quarter of calendar year 2016.
It was produced 1.65 million carats against 1.50 million carats during the same period in 2015. Following the results of 2016 calendar year production totaled 6.66 million carats against 6.41 million carats a year earlier. This is 4% less than the envisaged schedule in 2016 of 6.9 million carats.
Processing volumes in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2016 were 16% higher than in the same quarter of the previous year due to the extension of a planned maintenance stop at a processing plant in the fourth quarter of 2015.

AWDC (Antwerp World Diamond Centre, AWDC) unveiled the latest data on diamond imports and exports of Belgium, according to which these figures have changed slightly compared to September and October this year, only 1-2%.
Export and import of rough diamonds for the first 11 months of this year decreased, respectively, by 28% and 26% compared to c with the same period in 2014. In annual terms, rough diamond exports declined by 54% compared with November 2014, while imports fell - by 43%.
Similar was the situation in polished exports segment. Exports of polished stones fell 9%, while imports during the 11 months of 2015 - by 8%. In annual terms, polished diamond exports fell 12% in November compared to the same month in 2014 despite the fact that it is 15% better indicator of October 2015. Compared with November 2014, polished diamond imports fell by 17% but increased by almost 10% against the indicator of October.
