Record flawless blue topaz weighing 9381 carats will be put in the gallery of minerals US Natural History Museum from 19 October.
Faceted stone having 15 cm long and 10.5 cm wide and weighing about 2 kg, was treated to give it a bright blue color, said in the museum.
"This stone is a perfect example of how people create beautiful and coveted objects of natural mineral samples that we find around us and that we keep the collection in the museum," - said Mayk Ramsi (Mike Rumsey), senior curator of the museum's collection of minerals.
Stone called "The Island" (Ostro) will be put on permanent display in the name of Morris acute (Maurice Ostro), British entrepreneur and philanthropist. The original raw topaz was discovered 30 years ago by his father Max Sharp, a researcher in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
