Element Six, a subsidiary of De Beers, the beginning of the lawsuit against the company in Singapore IIa Technologies because of the alleged violation of its patents for commercial gain in industrial technology and in the jewelry industry.
The company says in a statement sent to Rough & Polished, that a number of its patents on synthetic diamond recognition system and methods of their production have been violated (patent number 115,872 and Singapore 110508).
Patents, for which the company filed a complaint, related to the production of a material having a combination of properties such as "high optical transparency" in the visible and infrared spectrum and low-crystalline tension. Such a material has suitable characteristics for infrared spectroscopy and high-power laser optical devices.
"Synthetic diamonds can be made without violating our patents, like many companies do. In this case, we are confident that we are dealing with patent infringement, and, like any other company in its place, Element Six is taking steps to protect its position "- said the executive director of Element Six Valter Hyun (Walter Hühn).
"To be able to continue to invest in research and development, we are dependent on our ability to protect the intellectual property resulting from our own research, development and innovation", - he added.
