The initiative of the diamond industry (Diamond Development Initiative, DDI) announced that it has received a three-year grant from the Anglo American group of companies.
DDI promotes responsible practices in the diamond mining and aims to improve the lives of thousands of artisanal diamond miners and their families in Africa.
Anglo American funding will allow DDI to perform its basic functions, including registration of artisanal miners, impose standards on the diamond fields, as well as to provide support to local communities, providing its members access to clean water and education.
